Don't forget to Relax.

It's the most wonderful time of the year... But is it? Now Christmas is over hopefully the stress levels have reduced. However, I think we still forget to do one vital thing - relax. We are in such a generation where we are always on the go and there is always something that needs to be done. We're also continuously attached to technology killing our poor eyes and allowing our minds to be constantly alert. So I ask you to do one thing – find some time each week to switch off from everything. Turn your phone off/TV/laptop and just relax. Here are just some things that help me.

First turn off technology, say your good nights if you need to on the phone and then put the phone out of reach. Resist temptation!
Have a bath. Or a shower if you’re not a bath person. Get a bath bomb (I vote LUSH!) mix with some oils and soak up for a while. The bath bomb I used in this photo is Star Dust which has a gorgeous vanilla scent. If you want it get it now! As it is limited edition I believe. As for oils I like to use grapefruit or lavender depending how I feel. Use a scrub, moisturise, do a face mask – whatever you like doing in the bath. Just relax.
Afterwards I like to light a candle, this one was from Matalan. If you have a relaxing scented one go for that one. Then I like to get a nice hot drink - obviously nothing with caffeine. Peppermint tea, hot chocolate or horlicks! Whatever takes your fancy. Then I lounge around for a while and read a book. The one I love to read before bed is Calm by Michael Acton Smith. It contains little activities and quotes to just help relax or appreciate what you have. I get so caught up in the superficial stuff that it's nice to read this book and remind me of what and who is really important. I also usually have music on the background - I have a old generation ipod, one without internet connection. I know it's still technology but I can't do much without music it seems!
After I've done some reading and had my lovely hot drink I head up to my room. The next thing I do is lie on my Bed of Nails Mat for about half an hour. If you suffer from back pain/neck pain or generally find it difficult to switch off I really recommend you give this a go. I've had back pain and neck pain for years and now I don't see an osteopath weekly this mat has made a huge impact to me. It really isn't as scary as it looks and once you get used to it you'll be wondering what you done without it - trust me. It works by triggering pressure points in the body to ease tension to induce a state of relaxation. It's also said to release endorphins and oxytoxins. There's a ton of benefits which you can look through on the website. I will say if you're going to purchase it do from Amazon. It's usually available for half the price!
After using the mat I'm usually very sleepy and relaxed. So I spritz my pillow with the This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray. I find whenever I use this I tend to drift off a lot easier than I would usually. However, I don't use it often as I don't want to get used to the scent and become reliant on it. I do always take it away with me and it does help me when I'm not in my own bed. I've always had issues with sleep as well so this really does make a big difference.
Finally I turn the lights out, do my skin care routine and put a eye mask on. The one I'm in love with at the moment is this one from Maggs London which is appropriately called Let Go Eye Mask. It's so comfortable on the eyes and doesn't add pressure to the area. It's such a beautiful design too! I love the Michalaks so it was nice to know the purchase is helping them! She has gorgeous make up bags too - definitely have a browse.

So that's is what I do when I really need to switch off or relax. What's your pamper evening like? Have you taken time to relax in this crazy busy period?
My next post won't be up until the new year so I hope you all enjoy celebrating whatever you are up to! Bring on 2016!

Top 5 Festive High End Lipsticks

After posting a drug store version there had to be a high end one right? You should still be able to get these before Christmas if you're still in desperate need of a new lipstick for the party season! Or if you want to buy a gift to the girl that adores lipsticks. You can never have too many, trust me.

Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick - Red Carpet Red (£23): The packaging is just so beautiful, I'm a sucker for Charlotte Tilbury I really am. Bond Girl is a nude I swear by. However, Red Carpet Red is that gorgeous true red shade which just screams Christmas. It also seems to be one of those shades that suits most skin tones. The matte revolution lipsticks are long lasting and comfortable on the lips! Just what you want on a busy day/evening. I will own every single one - one day.
MAC Lipstick - Mehr (£15.50): If you're not a fan of really bold colours or just want to go natural this one is definitely for you. It's a beautiful pink toned nude. On me it's quite a nice pale pink which doesn't wash me out - for once! I wear this lipstick most the time but it would go beautiful with any look I think. It's just such a versatile shade. If you can definitely pick it up.
Too Faced Melted Lipstick - Ruby (£19): Another strong bold red shade to consider if you want that classic look. I love the formula of these melted lipsticks. They are very pigmented and after they have dried on the lips you honestly do not have to worry about it going patchy or fading. A must if you want it to last day and evening! You really can't go wrong with Too Faced in my opinion.
Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte Shine Lipstick - 2 (£26): This is an option for those who don't like the feel of lipstick or lipgloss on the lips. It's so comfortable and has a balm texture. It will need reapplying after a few hours but for those after a bit of low maintenance and easy to apply these will be your hero. You could also just stare at it all day. It's that pretty.
MAC Lipstick - Rebel (£15.50): I think this is my go to party lipstick. I absolutely adore this shade - it's a pink/purple toned lipstick. It looks different on every skin tone I've found. When I don't want a red lipstick this is my go to and actually this is my favourite lipstick of all time so far. If you get a chance to swatch this please do! I hope you will love it as much as I do.

What is your favourite high end lipstick? Any recommendations?
I won't be posting until after Christmas so I hope you all have a Merry Christmas or happy holidays if you don't celebrate it!

Top 5 Festive Drug Store Lipsticks

It's that time of year with all the glitter and all the excuses to dress up! For me the biggest way to change a look is with your lipstick. I'm sure if you follow my instagram you'll know I'm obsessed with lipsticks so I thought I would share my top 5 drug store lipsticks for the festive period. Whether it's Christmas day or new years or just a party these are definitely worth a try!

Rimmel The Only 1 Lipstick - 800 Under My Spell (£6.99): These lipsticks are fairly new in the shops. If you suffer from dry lips this might be a winner for you - it's incredibly comforting, non drying and provides moisture and long lasting colour. There's a variety of colours available too but I always tend to go for a deep purple/red shade so under my spell is a perfect alternative to a red lip.
Fleur De Force Lipstick - 040 Lucky Star (£6.99): If you're more of a lipgloss fan this would be more suited for you. I picked the bright red shade as gold eyes and red lips just screams Christmas doesn't it?! The formula is non sticky and comfortable on the lips. It leaves a lovely stain which means you don't have to top up during the day if you want a more muted shade. However, if you do want that strong red shade you can just load up the layers.
Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick - 107 (£5.49): Ah that famous bold deep red shade that every beauty blogger seems to go crazy for. For drug store lipsticks this formula is by far my favourite. Long lasting and pigmented - just make sure you apply lip balm before so your lips do not dry out!
Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm - 250 Standout (£7.99): If you're not a fan or lipstick or lipgloss this one is for you. Such a gorgeous formula which is so easy to apply. This one does tend to fade so you will need to reapply during the day. However, you just forget it's on your lips! If you've not noticed already I tend to lean towards comfort in the Winter. The shade is a gorgeous classic red which can be built up to the boldness you require.
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick - 457 Wild Orchid (£7.99): If you're really not a fan of red lipstick this might be worth trying. As much as I love burgundy shades sometimes you just want a change! I love reaching for a pink/purple shade this time of year if I want to stand out a bit more. The formula of this is lovely and long lasting - I've tested at a wedding and it stayed put for 12 hours!

I will be posting my high end festive lipstick choices tomorrow! What shades do you go for this time of year? Do any of these take your fancy?
